Africa Tourism Leadership Forum assembles industry leaders in Gaborone

Echelons in the tourism industry have arrived in the capital of Botswana, Gaborone ahead of the country’s hosting of the 5th Africa Tourism Leadership Forum (ATLF).

Scheduled for 24 to 26 October 2022, at the Gaborone International Convention Centre, Grand Palm, Botswana, the 5th ATLF has received an overwhelming response from African countries and beyond. This gathering of Thought-Leaders and the Pan-African tourism stakeholder community will indulge in Botswana’s tourism experiences during the Forum.

Delegates comprising Ministers of state, thought leaders, industry leaders, and students in the tourism industry from over 40 countries have confirmed their participation. The speaker line-up is a stellar group of international specialists and a blend of industry veterans and young dynamic individuals making waves in their respective fields.

The three-day conference presents a thought-leadership dialogues, ministerial engagements, number of educational workshops and professional development sessions, technology showcases, and guest speakers.

Speaking to VoyagesAfriq in Gaborone on the eve of the conference the Acting CEO of the Botswana Tourism Organization Tshoganetso Carl – Ponoesele said “Botswana is happy to host Africa and industry leaders and optimistic the gathering will chart a path for an accelerated and sustained recovery while creating the opportune platform for African tourism leaders to peer review their works and strike some partnerships.

ATLF is convened by the Africa Tourism Partners in collaboration with the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO). It is also supported by the World Tourism Organization, BDO and ICCA.

This year’s Forum takes a deep dive into the areas of the Pan-African Private Sector Forum, Ministerial, Digitalisation and MICE Masterclasses, Ministerial and Executive Dialogues, and Insightful Expert Presentations.

There would also be an interactive panel discussion on recovery measures, continental and global industries, and strategies for building back better.

ATLF brings together the voices and sector leaders, both from government and business, to discuss what is required to bring the vision of tourism as an even greater enabler of economic growth, and job creation while showcasing the splendour and diversity of the continent to the world.

It is the only Pan-African public-private tourism leadership annual gathering convened and hosted in Africa, by Africans, and for Africans.

The business sessions will kick-start with a Private Sector and National Tourism Organisation Roundtable on the theme, “Uniting for common Intra-Africa Travel shared vision and acceleration.
The three-day event will cap off with the prestigious Africa Tourism Leadership Awards on Wednesday, October 26.
