Travellers from Ghana who wish to travel to South Africa can now apply for visa online.

In a press statement released on September 28, 2023, the South African High Commission said, “Ghana has been added by the Government of the Republic of South Africa on the E-visa list, which means that the Ghanaian Nationals can apply online for visas to South Africa without visiting the High Commission.”

This development comes as a huge relief to Ghanaian passport holders as they hope it would help streamline visa application processes to the rainbow nation. A huge backlog of unprocessed visas in recent months has left Ghanaians stranded, intensifying calls for South Africa to address the challenges.

The High Commission is urging applicants who have had their passports at the Commission for more than three months to collect them at the VFS Global offices.

The statement also encouraged Ghanaians to visit www.dha.gov.za for further information on the e-visa programme.
