Tourism Seychelles celebrated the successful conclusion of its participation in IFTM Top Resa 2024, which was held from 17th to 19th of September. The three-day event was an opportunity for Seychelles to showcase its breathtaking natural beauty, unique culture, and commitment to sustainable tourism to the global travel industry.

As one of the most prestigious travel and tourism trade shows in France, IFTM Top Resa attracted thousands of professionals from around the world, including tour operators, travel agents, airlines, and hospitality providers. This year, Tourism Seychelles presented a dynamic stand that highlighted the islands’ diverse offerings, from pristine beaches and luxury resorts to eco-tourism experiences and cultural heritage.

The Seychelles delegation was led by Mrs. Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for Tourism, along with Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, the Director General for Destination Marketing. The delegation also included key members, namely Ms. Judeline Edmond, Market Manager for France-Benelux & Switzerland, and Senior Marketing Executives Mrs. Maryse William and Ms. Jennifer Dupuy.

The Seychelles hospitality sector was well-represented, with participation from Story Seychelles – Mrs. Nives Deininger, Avani Barbarons Seychelles Resort – Mr. Ferruccio Tirone, Kempinski Seychelles Resort – Ms. Violeta Podkoopaeva, and Oasis Hotel Restaurant and Spa – Ms. Angele Kabore. Leading Destination Management Companies (DMCs) such as 7°South – Mrs. Stephanie El Adou Mekdachi, Creole Travel Services– Ms. Melissa Quatre, and Mason’s Travel – Ms. Amy Michel were also present. Their participation reinforced Seychelles’ appeal as a premier holiday destination and allowed for meaningful engagement with partners and stakeholders.

Throughout the event, the delegation met with various travel partners to strengthen existing relationships and forge new partnerships. These interactions included productive discussions with major European tour operators, airlines, and travel agencies, further cementing Seychelles as a top-of-mind destination for French and European travellers.

“It was immensely rewarding to hear and witness the incredible enthusiasm from our tour operator partners, particularly as we discussed forward bookings for the remainder of this year and well into 2025. The market is not just stabilising but experiencing renewed vigour, and we are thrilled that the new product developments happening on the ground are contributing to this positive momentum. These enhancements provide our travel trade partners with fresh and compelling stories to share with their clients, significantly elevating Seychelles’ appeal as a destination of choice,” said Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for Tourism.

Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Marketing, added, “IFTM Top Resa has been a fantastic platform for Seychelles to reinforce our commitment to the French market, which remains one of our key source markets. Our presence here allows us to build on the momentum of sustainable travel trends, ensuring that Seychelles continues to appeal to eco-conscious travellers while maintaining our position as a premium destination.”

In line with the global shift towards responsible travel, Tourism Seychelles emphasised its efforts in promoting sustainability during the event. The delegation highlighted the ongoing initiatives that make Seychelles a leader in eco-tourism, such as marine conservation programmes, sustainable hotel practices, and community-driven tourism ventures. Attendees had the chance to learn more about Seychelles’ commitment to protecting its natural environment while providing authentic experiences for travellers.

As IFTM Top Resa 2024 concluded, Tourism Seychelles looks forward to the opportunities and collaborations that emerged from the event. With travel trends pointing towards a surge in demand for sustainable and off-the-beaten-path destinations, Seychelles is well-positioned to capture the interest of discerning travellers seeking unique and environmentally responsible experiences.
