Seychelles announces its full readiness to welcome visitors to its national pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. With a dynamic team on the ground, Seychelles is set to present its culture, values, and sustainable development model under the theme: “A People’s Journey: Empowering Lives through Sustainable Tourism, Aquaculture and Investment.”

The Seychelles delegation is led by Commissioner General Mr. Jean-Luc Lai Lam from Tourism Seychelles, in close collaboration with Mrs. Maria Azemia, Executive Director at the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy. Together, they have spearheaded the planning and execution of Seychelles’ participation at EXPO 2025.

Also present in Osaka for the launch is Seychelles’ Ambassador accredited to Japan, Mrs. Anne Lafortune, lending key diplomatic support, alongside Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Marketing at Tourism Seychelles, who is leading efforts to promote Seychelles as a high-value, sustainable destination.

Visitors to the Seychelles Pavilion can expect a rich and engaging experience that goes beyond visuals. The stand will feature immersive video content offering stunning views of Seychelles’ natural beauty, marine biodiversity, and sustainable development initiatives.

The Seychelles team is thrilled to be part of EXPO 2025 and is eager to offer visitors an authentic taste of island life. On-site, they will host dynamic live interactions where guests can dive into personal stories, uncover rich cultural insights, and truly immerse themselves in the vibrant spirit of Seychelles. Through these direct conversations, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of what makes Seychelles a beacon of environmental stewardship and cultural vibrancy.

In addition to the cultural showcase, the pavilion includes a dedicated commercial area designed to facilitate meaningful business exchanges. Representatives from key sectors—tourism, fisheries, investment, and culture—will be available for one-on-one business meetings, providing a unique platform to explore collaboration opportunities and discuss sustainable projects with interested partners and stakeholders.

Seychelles will celebrate its National Day on 7th September 2025, which coincides with Clean Air Day—a global initiative aligned with the nation’s strong environmental agenda. The occasion will feature official ceremonies and cultural performances, reinforcing Seychelles’ message of unity, sustainability, and global cooperation.

“Our presence at EXPO 2025 is more than just a showcase; it’s a statement of who we are and what we stand for,” said Commissioner Jean-Luc Lai Lam. “We warmly invite all visitors to come, engage with us, and be part of Seychelles’ ongoing journey toward a sustainable and inclusive future.”

The upcoming World Expo, organised and sanctioned by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), is being held in Osaka, Japan, from 13 April to 13 October 2025—a six-month global gathering expected to attract approximately 28 million visitors. This will be the second time Osaka hosts a World Expo, having previously hosted Expo 1970. The event will return to its traditional five-year scheduling cycle after the 2020 edition was delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
