Edelweiss, Switzerland’s leading holiday airline, is expanding its long-haul network and will be flying to Namibia’s capital Windhoek from summer 2026. The flights will operate seasonally from 1 June to the end of October, non-stop from Zurich on Mondays and Fridays. The route will be served by the state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient Airbus A350, which offers a particularly comfortable and quiet travel experience.

Namibia: pure adventure, nature and wide open spaces

Namibia is one of the most impressive destinations in southern Africa, offering fascinating contrasts and unforgettable experiences. Spectacular round trips can be started from the charming capital Windhoek: highlights include the endless dune landscapes of the Namib Desert, Etosha National Park with its unique wildlife, the rugged coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and the breathtaking vastness of the country. Namibia inspires with its biodiversity, its unspoilt nature and its exceptional hospitality. The destination is ideal for both self-drive adventures and guided tours through one of the oldest landscapes on earth.

The new connection to Windhoek is now available to book on flyedelweiss.com and through all the usual sales channels. The new holiday destination expands the long-haul offering in southern Africa to four destinations. In South Africa, Edelweiss continues to fly to Cape Town; in Tanzania to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.

Outlook for the 2026 summer flight schedule

Edelweiss’ 2026 summer flight schedule is already available for booking and features several new additions: On long-haul routes, the season to Cape Town will be extended with flights until the beginning of June and again from the beginning of September. Colombo will continue from the winter flight schedule until the end of May. Halifax, which has been on offer since summer 2025, will be served from mid-May 2026. Vancouver will also start again at the beginning of April, and the service to Tampa Bay (Florida) will be increased to four weekly flights during the spring holidays.

The short-haul offering also remains diverse: all destinations served in summer 2025 – including the newly added destinations Tbilisi, Bristol, Terceira (Azores), Zadar and Calvi (Corsica) – will also be included in next summer’s schedule.

Further frequency increases and adjustments are being planned and will be communicated in the coming months.
