As World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025 concluded last week, South African Tourism proudly reflects on a week of meaningful engagement, global recognition, and growing enthusiasm for travel to South Africa.

Since the event kicked off on 4 November, 22 South African stand sharers have collectively hosted many meetings with trade partners, media, and stakeholders from across the world. The South Africa stand has been a hive of activity, showcasing the country’s diverse offerings from breathtaking wildlife experiences and adventure travel to rich culture and cuisine.

Adding to the excitement of the week, South Africa has been honoured with two major international accolades:

  • Top Destination for 2026 – for the Kruger National Park at the Lonely Planet Best in Travel Awards
  • Gold Winner: Most Desirable Destination for Nature and Wildlife – Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025

The Lonely Planet Best in Travel Awards, announced at the National Portrait Gallery in London, recognise South Africa and the Kruger National Park as a must-visit destination for its spectacular wildlife, diverse landscapes, and warm hospitality. Meanwhile, the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025 saw thousands of readers vote South Africa as their top choice for nature and wildlife experiences.

These recognitions reaffirm South Africa’s position as one of the world’s most inspiring and sought-after travel destinations,” said Darryl Erasmus, Acting CEO of South African Tourism. “We are immensely proud of our teams and partners who continue to showcase South Africa’s beauty and diversity on the global stage.”

. As WTM London 2025 ends, South African Tourism extends sincere thanks to all partners, stand sharers, and visitors who joined us this week. The strong engagement follows continued positive growth in international arrivals to South Africa (growth of 17% Jan to Sep 2025 versus Jan to Sep 2024), reflecting renewed global interest in our diverse experiences and warm hospitality. Together, we continue to inspire travellers to choose a place where adventure, nature, and culture meet.  South Africa Awaits – Come find your joy!
