Seychelles has mounted a strong showcase at IBTM World 2025, where the global business events, meetings and conference tourism industry has convened in Barcelona, Spain. With visitors, tour buyers and trade partners in attendance, the island nation is presenting a confident outlook built on what officials describe as a successful tourism year.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the Director General for Destination Marketing at Tourism Seychelles, Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, highlighted that 2025 has continued the country’s positive trajectory.

“So we’re actually doing very well, we’re up by 12% in terms of global arrival figures,” she said, noting that the achievement reflects teamwork across the tourism value chain. “Of course, this is a collective effort between different stakeholders both locally and internationally and of course the role played by the tourism departments in terms of marketing and promotions of the destination at large.”

Mrs. Willemin expressed optimism that the momentum will be maintained in the year ahead, adding:
“It goes without saying that we want to continue to build on those numbers. We hope that no external factors will come and upset the trend.”

Looking toward future growth, she explained that Seychelles will not only build on its existing successes but intensify efforts in diversifying its market segments, particularly within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) space.

“So again, collectively with all our partners we’re looking at developing our business further, tapping into different market segments including the MICE,” Mrs Willemin noted. With the country participating at IBTM World, she said the event provides the perfect opportunity to deepen this agenda. “Since we are actually exhibiting at the stand at IBTM we are looking also at reinforcing and strengthening our MICE business to ensure that we have a constant growth for Seychelles.”
