On 26 May 2026, federal Airlines proudly celebrated the official opening of its brand-new Baobab Lounge at Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport, marking an exciting new chapter in elevated regional air travel and guest experience within the Lowveld.

The opening of the lounge coincides with the expansion of FedAir’s Lowveld scheduled services and reflects the airline’s ongoing commitment to seamless, luxury-focused travel experiences for guests exploring Southern Africa’s premier safari destinations.

Designed to mirror the elegance and exclusivity of FedAir’s flagship lounge in Johannesburg, the Hoedspruit Baobab Lounge introduces a modern safari-inspired aesthetic, blending clean contemporary design with warm African hospitality. The result is a calm, sophisticated waiting space where travellers can relax and unwind before their journey.

To celebrate the launch, federal Airlines welcomed valued travel and trade partners to experience the lounge firsthand and gain insight into the enhanced experience their guests can now enjoy when travelling through Hoedspruit. Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the comfort, atmosphere, and premium feel of the new facility.

Reflecting on the launch, Pascaline, Head of Guest Relations at federal Airlines, shared: “Working behind the scenes to bring FedAir’s Baobab Lounge to life has been incredibly special, and seeing the lounge officially open and welcoming guests has been such a rewarding moment.” She added, “Every detail was carefully considered to create a warm, calm, and elevated space that reflects the FedAir experience our guests know and love.”

The lounge will not be exclusive for FedAir passengers but will also be open to the public on a limited-capacity basis. Walk-in passengers connecting with commercial airlines will have the opportunity to access the lounge for a nominal fee, offering a peaceful retreat away from the busy terminal environment.

Guests visiting the lounge will have access to:

  • Light snacks
  • Coffee, tea, and refreshments
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Modern restroom facilities

The Hoedspruit Baobab Lounge is the third in a growing collection of premium airport spaces planned by federal Airlines. The Baobab Skukuza Lounge is scheduled to open later this year, while a full rebuild and upgrade of the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport lounge is already in the pipeline.

With these developments, federal Airlines continues to redefine regional safari travel through thoughtful luxury, personalised service, and memorable guest experiences.
