The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) and China Media Group (CMG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening tourism cooperation between Namibia and the People’s Republic of China through strategic media collaboration, destination marketing, and cultural exchange.
The agreement was signed during the State Visit of His Excellency President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah to the People’s Republic of China, marking another significant milestone in the growingbilateral relations between the two countries.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for collaboration between NTB and CMG in promoting Namibia and China as tourism destinations. Areas of cooperation include the production of tourism programmes, joint promotional campaigns, exhibitions, media exchanges, tourism-related projects, and initiatives that foster greater cultural understanding between the twonations. The agreement further provides that specific projects will be implemented through separate project agreements, ensuring that each initiative is clearly defined, costed, and mutually agreed upon.
The China Media Group is one of the world’s largest multimedia organisations, with an extensive international audience across television, radio, digital platforms, and social media. The collaboration is expected to provide Namibia with increased exposure within the Chinese market while supporting the country’s efforts to diversify source markets and attract high-value international visitors.
The MoU is valid for an initial period of one year and reflects the commitment of both organisations to work together in promoting sustainable tourism development while respecting each party’s mandate and applicable laws. The agreement does not create financial obligations for either party,with any future projects to be negotiated and approved independently.
