The Kenya Tourism Board has appointed the New York-based CornerSun Destination Marketing to lead marketing efforts in the North American market. CornerSun’s efforts will begin with an American roadshow this December stopping in three cities along the East Coast.

The multi-city roadshow will begin in Boston on December 3, moving to Washington, D.C. on the 5th and finishing in New York City on the 7th. The marketing campaign will bring 14 suppliers from Kenya to meet with American travel advisors and tour operators. Cornersun’s 2019 projects will include a co-op marketing campaign, social media campaigns and sales calls in key markets.

The United States has become Kenya’s top source market for overseas visitors, with 114,507 Americans arriving in 2017. This number is likely to increase with the introduction of new non-stop air service through Kenya Airways from New York JFK to Nairobi, marking the first direct link to East Africa.

Kenya has also become one of the United States’ most visited destinations in Africa. The Kenya Tourism Board hopes for the country to become a preferred long-haul destination in Africa for high yield tourists.

CornerSun Destination Marketing is a marketing consultancy that specialises largely in African travel. Its clients include the Malawi Department of Tourism, Seychelles Tourism Board, Great Lakes Safaris of Uganda and Rwanda, Visit Norway and Guyana Tourism Authority.
