The government of Zimbabwe is planning to set up a tourism revolving fund to support players in the sector to access credit facilities, with the aim of boosting big projects.

Prisca Mupfumira, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, said: “We need to urgently facilitate the establishment of a tourism revolving fund as a mechanism to create capital injection aimed at supporting the industry, as well as addressing challenges such as the shortage of hotel room capacity and facilities.”

Zimbabwe’s tourism sector is one of the key contributors to the economy and is anticipated to play a big part in achieving the country’s vision of a middle-income economy by 2030.

Currently the country’s overall tourism performance continues to be positive, tourist arrivals surge, and the outlook for the sector is encouraging.
