The Ministry of Tourism and Leisure in Cote d’Ivoire has refuted rumors about a possible change of site for the Akwaba amusement park.

In a statement issued by the ministry, it said, the public should ignore some media reports suggesting a change of site for the Akwaba Park in Port Bouet.

‘’For the past few weeks, some publications on social networks have been talking about the relocation of the project of the amusement park called: “Akwaba park” in another commune of the city of Abidjan. The Minister of Tourism and leisure would like to reassure the people that the project “Akwaba Parc” remains located in the municipality of Port-Bouët as originally indicated’’.

The Minister of Tourism and Leisure Siandou Fofana in July 2018 cut sod for the construction of West Africa’s largest amusement park to be located in Port-Bouët.

The facility expected to open in 2022 will at its initial stages see the construction of a 3 and 4 star hotel complex.

It will cost 80 billions CFA Franc to be financed through Public Private Partnership and the facility will cover area of 100 heactares between coast of Port-Bouët and the city of Grand-Bassam.
