UNWTO Month of Tourism & African Gastronomy kicks off

A month-long initiative by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) dedicated to promoting Africa’s tourism and gastronomy has begun.

The ‘Month of Tourism and African Gastronomy’ features a series of conversations with stakeholders within the continent’s tourism and gastronomy space and UNWTO all throughout the month of May.

Under the auspices of UNWTO Regional Department for Africa and Department of Tourism Market Intelligence and Competitiveness, topics to be discussed include: Co-creating a vision for the future, from farm to table: building ties in the value chain, Talent and education as boosters of Gastronomy Tourism in Africa, and Gastronomy – a new image of Africa.

A special session on Women empowerment through gastronomy tourism in Africa is scheduled for May 31st.
