Media’s role in tourism growth in focus at iNTTA Expo 2021 pre-event

As part of preparations toward the inaugural edition of the Inter Tourism Expo, Accra (iNNTA 2021) in Accra, organisers have helad a Media Soiree where the role of the media in tourism growth, development and promotion was put into perspective.

The event which was held yesterday, June 30, was also to bring the media and other tourism stakeholders up to speed on preparations and format of the upcoming expo.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey said the contribution of the media to the revival of tourism at the current COVID-19 era cannot be underestimated.

“At this time when countries are trying to revive their tourism, the media has a significant role to play. I take this opportunity to welcome the media to support tourism to bounce back resiliently,” he said.

Convener of the Expo, Emmanuel Treku added that, “The role of the media in this agenda to promote Ghana as a preferred Tourism destination is crucial and cannot be underestimated. The media being the gate keeper of information provides us with the platform to project Ghana in this regard.”

Urging the media to promote the Expo, he revealed that the organisers of the Expo are working on creating an award scheme for deserving journalist who excel in promoting tourism through the various media platforms.

iNTTA 2021 is a tourism and trade show to be hosted in Accra, capital of Ghana to promote its brands, destinations, products and services in Ghana with Exhibitors, Buyers and Trade visitors from the African continent and travel professionals all over the world. The event will host 150 Exhibitors, 200 Hosted buyers and 500 trade visitors at the Accra International Conference Centre from the 28th to 30th September 2021.
The three-day event will see an exhibition and conference with expert international Speakers with fam trip for hosted buyers.

Organisers hope to achieve the following with the Expo:
.To provide a cost-effective tourism business promotional platform for sellers and buyers in the tourism industry to network and do business in a friendly environment while putting the Culture and Warmth of Ghana in the limelight;
.To set a platform that links the small and medium tourism enterprises with the international tourism market
.To promote and showcase Ghana as a preferred MICE tourism destination

Additionally, the event is being instituted with a view to position Ghana as a preferred MICE Tourism destination. “We envisage that iNTTA2021 will give impetus to the BEYOND THE RETURN activities and further promote sustainable tourism trade in Ghana,” Mr. Treku emphasised.
