Jeddah’s cultural magic thrill UNWTO Exco delegates

Delegates attending the 116th UNWTO Executive Council meeting in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been treated to an amazing night of cultural immersion in the old city. 

Hosting their first major UNWTO event, the authorities of Saudi Arabia ensured the opportunity was not missed to showcase the country’s incredible heritage.

Welcoming delegates at the Bait Nassief traditional Jeddawi House, the Kingdom’s Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, said it was an honour for Saudi to host this historical and very important meeting of the world tourism organization.

He added that he believes the meeting will bring the desired results and for an accelerated tourism restart.

The Secretary-General of UNWTO, Zurab Pololikashvili commended the Saudi government for hosting the 116th Executive Council and entreated delegates to take time off to experience the culturally endowed offering of Jeddah.

Delegates were treated to an array of Saudi cuisines and taken on a tour of the old city rounding up a culturally rich day.

Bait Nassief is a traditional Jeddawi house that was built in the late 1800s. The house is considered as one of the unique houses of Al Balad the old city in Jeddah for its architectural design, high ceilings and most importantly, it has a historic value as the people of Jeddah welcomed King Abdulaziz Al-Saud  to Jeddah in this house in 1924 where the King spent 3 years.
