Mauritius prepares for 66th UNWTO CAF Meeting

Mauritius is gearing up to host African Tourism Ministers and stakeholders for the 66th UNWTO CAF Meeting. The Meeting which will take place at Le Meridien from 26 to 28 July 2023 is on the theme: Rethinking Tourism For Africa: Promoting Investment And Partnerships; Addressing Global Challenges.

The Commission meeting will also be followed by a conference and a technical workshop. The UNWTO Regional Commission for Africa is the major institutional platform where ministries in charge of tourism discuss the latest trends of the sector at the continental and global level and the implementation of their program of work.

The Commission of Africa Meeting is held every year as part of UNWTO’s statutory events. It will be the second time the archipelago island country which has been a member of the UNWTO since 1975 will be hosting the CAF Meeting.

Tourism in Mauritius is an important component of the Mauritian economy as well as a significant source of its foreign exchange revenues. Mauritius is mostly appreciated for its natural environment and man-made attractions, the multi- ethnic and cultural diversity of the population, the tropical climate, beaches and water sports.
