The West Africa Tourism Organisation (WATO) proudly celebrated a monumental achievement at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2024 as Cameroon was named Top Country to Visit in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2025. This prestigious accolade highlights Cameroon’s extraordinary appeal as a destination of choice.

The award, presented by Lonely Planet, celebrates Cameroon’s stunning diversity—from its golden beaches and verdant rainforests to its bustling cities and vibrant cultural traditions. It’s a recognition of the country’s unique ability to offer travellers an immersive experience that’s rich in history, nature, and adventure.

According to WATO, this honour is a triumph for Cameroon as well as a moment of glory for the whole region. The award also supports WATO’s objective of promoting the area’s undiscovered attractions on the international travel scene in order to draw in new tourists and business ventures.

Cameroon: A Rising Star for 2025
Cameroon’s recognition as Top Country to Visit in 2025 positions it as a rising star for travellers seeking off-the-beaten-path experiences. From the majestic Mount Cameroon to the cultural vibrancy of cities like Douala and Yaoundé, the country is a microcosm of Africa’s diversity and allure.

A Shared Vision for the Future
WATO’s goal of inclusive and sustainable tourism in West Africa is reflected in the award. Through collaborations cultivated at WTM London, WATO seeks to promote tourism in West and Central Africa, providing tourists with life-changing experiences while conserving their natural and cultural assets.

As 2025 draws closer , WATO invites the world to discover the wonders of Cameroon—a land where adventure, beauty, and culture intertwine. WATO invites all to come and see why Cameroon is Lonely Planet’s Top Country for 2025 and a crown jewel of Africa’s tourism landscape.
