As part of a strategic initiative by the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO), 100 tourism professionals, media representatives, and influencers from Spain and Portugal are participating in a Familiarization Trip (Fam Trip) to Dakhla from January 8–11, 2025. The trip coincides with the launch of Ryanair’s new Madrid-Dakhla flight, aimed at strengthening connectivity and promoting Dakhla as a prime destination for Iberian markets.

The Fam Trip provides a comprehensive introduction to Dakhla’s tourism potential, highlighting its cultural assets, natural landscapes, and investment opportunities. Attendees will engage in site visits, networking sessions, and presentations designed to showcase the region’s growing appeal to international visitors.

The new Madrid-Dakhla route, operational twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays, is part of Ryanair’s collaboration with the MNTO. This route not only enhances accessibility for Spanish and Portuguese travelers but also positions Dakhla as a gateway for Latin American tourists via Madrid’s hub. Furthermore, the Lanzarote-Dakhla route, set to launch shortly, further strengthens the region’s air connectivity.

Ryanair joins Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Binter Canarias, and Transavia as the fourth airline to establish direct international flights to Dakhla, underlining the region’s strategic importance. These developments align with MNTO’s broader goals of integrating Dakhla into international travel itineraries and fostering trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

This initiative is expected to drive significant interest from the Iberian Peninsula, offering an immersive experience for participants to understand Dakhla’s unique offerings. The region’s focus on sustainable tourism infrastructure and its untapped potential make it a promising destination for tourism growth.
