Abeiku Santana appointed Deputy CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority

Renowned media personality and tourism advocate, Gilbert Abeiku “Santana” Aggrey, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) by President John Mahama.

His appointment marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s tourism sector, given his immense contribution to the industry over the years.

Abeiku Santana, widely known as “Mr. Tourism,” is the Chief Executive Officer of Kaya Tours, a leading Ghanaian tour company. Through his work, he has played a pivotal role in promoting domestic and international tourism, positioning Ghana as a top-tier destination in Africa. His passion for tourism has been evident through his extensive media engagements, tourism campaigns, and advocacy efforts to enhance the sector’s growth.

His appointment has been met with widespread applause, particularly from industry stakeholders. The Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), of which he is a proud member, has commended the decision, describing him as a visionary who will bring innovation and dynamism to the Ghana Tourism Authority.

In a congratulatory message, TOUGHA President Mrs. Alisa Osei-Asamoah stated, “Abeiku Santana’s commitment to Ghana’s tourism development has been unwavering. His vast experience, coupled with his deep understanding of the sector, makes him an excellent choice for this role. We are confident that his leadership will further drive growth and attract more tourists to our country.”

With this new role, Abeiku Santana is expected to work closely with the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority to implement policies and initiatives that will boost tourism revenue, promote sustainable tourism, and enhance Ghana’s visibility on the global tourism map.

Many industry players believe that his media influence, business acumen and extensive network will be instrumental in driving the government’s vision of making tourism one of Ghana’s major economic pillars.
