Dr Linda Pereira to Lead Namibia’s First National MICE Training Programme

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) has proudly welcomed Dr. Linda Pereira, PhD, an internationally acclaimed expert in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, to Namibia. Dr. Pereira will lead the first-ever national MICE Training Programme, taking place from 1–3 September 2025 at the MTC Dome, Swakopmund.

On her arrival in Windhoek, Dr. Pereira was received by NTB Chief Executive Officer, Sebulon Chicalu, alongside NTB staff. The occasion also included an engagement with the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) Executive Team, reflecting a collaborative commitment to capacity-building and skills development in Namibia’s tourism sector.

“Hosting Dr. Pereira is a historic milestone for the Namibia Tourism Board, as it demonstrates our resolve to elevate Namibia’s profile as a competitive MICE destination in Africa and beyond,” said Mr. Chicalu. “This training will empower our stakeholders with the knowledge and tools needed to drive growth, investment, and global visibility through the MICE sector.”

About the Upcoming Engagements (1–3 September 2025)

The three-day programme, to be held at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund, will bring together tourism stakeholders, policymakers, industry practitioners, and private sector players for intensive capacity-building sessions. Key focus areas will include:

  • Understanding the global MICE landscape and Namibia’s positioning
  • Destination branding, digital tools, and international bid preparation
  • Sustainable practices, hybrid formats, and innovation in events
  • Action planning and policy development for long-term MICE growth

The engagements will combine presentations, workshops, and interactive sessions, ensuring that participants leave with actionable strategies to strengthen Namibia’s readiness for hosting international business events.

Dr. Pereira is recognized as one of the most influential women in the global MICE industry, with over 40 years of international experience as a trainer, strategist, and consultant. She serves as CEO of the L&I Communications Group, is a visiting professor at several European universities, and has advised on large-scale events for organizations such as the United Nations, the European Union, and global professional associations.

Her expertise in destination readiness, event bidding, sustainability, and innovation has made her a sought-after voice in shaping the future of the events industry worldwide.

This initiative forms part of NTB’s strategic agenda to diversify tourism, attract investment, and create employment opportunities by strengthening Namibia’s presence in the international business events arena.
