10th AviaDev Africa Officially Launched in Gaborone

The 10th edition of AviaDev Africa has officially been launched in Gaborone, Botswana. The Botswana Air Access initiative, led by the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB), joined the AviaDev team to unveil Africa’s premier aviation development event, set to take place from 10–12 June 2026 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).

Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure,  Noah Salakae, underscored that hosting AviaDev Africa 2026 reflects Botswana’s growing influence in regional aviation and its commitment to using air transport as a driver of trade, tourism, and socio-economic growth. He highlighted that improved air connectivity can unlock Botswana’s vast tourism potential and position the country as a gateway to Southern Africa.

CAAB CEO, Mr. Bao Mosinyi, outlined progress made under the Botswana Air Access initiative, noting the return and expansion of routes by South African Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, and Airlink, among others, an achievement that demonstrates the nation’s readiness for expanded air links.

AviaDev Africa Founder and CEO, Mr. Jon Howell, praised Botswana’s strong proposal and operational capacity to host over 500 delegates, citing the nation’s infrastructure, accessibility, and collaborative approach as some of the key factors behind its successful bid.

Botswana Tourism Organisation CEO, Ms. Keitumetse Setlang, commended all stakeholders involved and emphasised the importance of aviation in boosting tourism arrivals, particularly long-haul travel which contributes significantly to the local economy.
