Over the weekend, the chiefs and people of Oguaa Traditional Area brought activities of this year’s Fetu Afahye to a head with a street procession and a grand durbar which had in attendance, Ghana’s Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

A sea of revellers filled the streets of Cape Coast in merriment

Our cameras were there to capture the moments which saw over 30,000 people from all walks of life throng the streets of Cape Coast to engage in the revelries.

The Fetu Afahye is a festival of the people of the Oguaa Traditional Area and is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of September by communities in the Cape Coast Traditional Area (Fetu).

It is characterized by a durbar of chiefs and processions of “Asafo Companies” (traditional warrior groups) and numerous social organisations.
