Ghana:Okere come alive with MountainFest jamboree

Asenemase waterfall was the beehive of activities over the weekend when music stars descended the town for the first Okere mountain fest.

The Okere District Assembly as part of innovative ways to promote and raise revenue for the development of the newly created constituency partnered with Ghanaian Destination Management Company (DMC) Kaya Tours to stage the maiden #mountainfest at the waterfalls.

The event recorded the largest gathering of social event in the community with over five thousand revelers at the falls.

VGMA’s new Artiste of the year, Wendy shay led a night of unforgettable experience with rocking performances at the waterfalls. The upcoming music star performed along with Eno Barony, Tulenkey, Iwan, among others.

The Member of Parliament for Okere and Minister for Regional Reorganization and Development, Dan Botwe in his brief address said he was happy to see collaboration between the Assembly and tour operators to promote the tourism offering of the district.

He pledged his support and thanked lead of the group Abeiku Santana for his unwavering support to the area.

The District Chief Executive of Okere Daniel Kenneth on his part said, it was one of the activities he has instituted to drive the local economy of Okere and also promote the various tourism sites of the district.

Broadcast journalist and CEO of Kaya Tours Gilbert Abeiku Santana said he was passionate to promote responsible and sustainable tourism. ‘’ I’m very much happy that our pursuit to promote responsible and sustainable tourism has taken us to the Eastern Region, Okere District, one of the new created District Assembly in Ghana. The Destination has in abundance Heritage cultural flora and fauna attractions worth experiencing’’ he added.
