The Director of Marketing at the Kenya Tourism Board Jacinta Nzioka is to coordinate the newly established National Convention Bureau.

The Cabinet Secretary of Tourism and Wildlife Najib Balala disclosed this during the official opening of the 9th Magical Kenya Travel Expo in Nairobi Kenya.

He said Kenya acknowledged the importance of MICE and has recently gazetted the National Convention Bureau.

“We recognise that MICE is a very important segment of tourism and we have gazetted National convention bureau. Today I want to announce the appointment of Jacinta Nzioka as the acting coordinator for the National Convention Bureau so that this year we can start preparing and increasing our meetings and business here in Nairobi and the country as well.” the minister added.

In a brief response, Jacinta Nzioka said, she is happy to take the challenge of leading the establishment of the convention bureau and looking forward to Kenya taking opportunity of the MICE business as it gives faster return on investment.

The Principal Secretary of Tourism will chair the Advisory Board for the operationalization of the Convention Bureau and other membership composed of Principal Secretaries from Foreign Affairs, National Treasury, Trade, Sports, CEO of Kenya Tourism Board, CEO of KEPSA, CEO of Kenya Tourism Federation, and KNCCI CEO.
