Nigeria’s Burna Boy & Wizkid scoop awards at 63rd Grammys

Nigeria’s music heavyweights, Burna Boy and Wizkid bagged an award each from 63rd Grammy Awards which was held on Sunday, 14th March, 2021.

Burna Boy’s ‘Twice as Tall’ album won the Best Global Music Album. The category recognises albums containing at least 51% playing time of new vocal or instrumental Global Music recordings.

And for featuring on Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl,’ with Blue Ivy, Wizkid was also the recipient of a Grammy as the video of that song won the Best Music Video award.

In addition to winning the award, Burna Boy performed a medley of his songs starting with the chorus of “20:10: 20” to “Level Up’ to ‘Onyeka’ and ‘Ye’, complemented by his band ‘The Outsiders.’ His performance was one of the high points of the Grammy Premiere Ceremony.

The Grammy is presented by the Recording Academy, the world’s leading society of music professionals and considered as the biggest awards’ show in the music globally.
