Greater Accra Regional Tourism Awards recognises industry excellence & innovation

The Greater Accra Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has recognized individuals and businesses in the tourism, hospitality and hospitality sector for their continued pursuit of excellence and innovation at the 2024 Greater Accra Regional Tourism Awards.

Under the theme: Celebrating Innovation and Recognizing Excellence in Ghana’s Tourism Sector, the ceremony gathered the industry’s brightest minds and key stakeholders to celebrate outstanding achievements and the future of Ghana’s tourism landscape.

Held at the Labadi Beach Hotel, this year’s awards ceremony paid tribute to the remarkable efforts of tourism and hospitality professionals who have set new standards for service, quality, and innovation.

In his welcome address, Alexander Kwame Nketia, Greater Accra Regional Director of the GTA, applauded the industry for its contributions to the nation’s cultural pride and economic growth.

“Through your efforts, Greater Accra continues to shine as a beacon of hospitality, culture, and heritage,” he remarked. “This year’s theme underscores the importance of collaboration and continuous development, key elements that will further elevate Ghana as a top global destination.”

Regional Minister, Hon. Daniel Nit Kwartei Titus Glover, emphasized the role of innovation in the industry’s resilience, stating,”Tourism is more than just a collection of attractions—it’s the lifeblood of economies and a bridge between cultures. Tonight, we celebrate the power of innovation and the successes it has brought to Ghana’s tourism industry.”

As the evening progressed, the spotlight was placed on the winners—individuals and businesses who have demonstrated exceptional professionalism, creativity, and a commitment to service excellence. Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, echoed the sentiments of resilience and forward-thinking, saying, “Despite the global challenges that have impacted tourism, Ghana’s determination to grow its tourism sector remains stronger than ever. The quality of service delivery will ultimately position Ghana as a destination of choice on the world stage.”

The 2024 award winners, spanning accommodation facilities, food and beverage establishments, tour operators, and more, represent the best of Ghana’s tourism sector. Their innovation and dedication have been key to the industry’s ongoing success.
