The heartbeat of Ghana’s tourism scene is set to pulsate even louder this December as AfroTorch, an event celebrating the country’s vibrant culture, arts and tourism, officially launched its second edition yesterday at the Eminstimadze Palace, the historic seat of the Cape Coast paramountcy.

The ceremony, graced by key industry stakeholders and media representatives, signaled a bold new chapter for tourism promotion in the Central Region.

Michael Orleans, CEO of Torchlight Tours, the organisers of AfroTorch, in his speech at the launch, highlighted the festival’s potential to revolutionise tourism in Ghana.

“Welcome to the official South Africa/Ghana launch of AfroTorch 2025 – Unleash Your Blackness!” Orleans declared, setting the tone for what promises to be a monumental event.

Set to take place from December 24th to 26th, 2025, AfroTorch will once again transform Cape Coast into a melting pot of culture, creativity and business. Under the theme ‘Igniting Culture, Tourism & Business’, the festival aims to be a game-changer, offering visitors an immersive three-day experience featuring heritage tours, beach carnivals, live music, art exhibitions, cultural performances, and a grand food fair showcasing the best of Ghanaian cuisine.

“AfroTorch 2025 is more than just an event; it is a movement that honours African excellence, resilience, and unity with our culture,” Orleans emphasised. “Beyond entertainment, this festival is an economic catalyst—empowering local businesses, creating job opportunities, and strengthening our tourism sector.”

With the increasing success of Ghana’s December in GH initiative, AfroTorch offers a refreshing alternative to the many end-of-year events scattered across the country, positioning Cape Coast as a prime destination for tourists seeking cultural immersion alongside entertainment.

Orleans further extended an open invitation to corporate entities, investors and media partners to support the event, stressing that their involvement is more than just sponsorship—it is an investment in economic growth and Africa’s global tourism appeal.

“Our vision is bold, and our ambitions are high—but we cannot do this alone,” he urged. “Your sponsorship is not just an investment in tourism but in economic growth, community empowerment, and the promotion of Africa as a premier travel destination. With an estimated audience of thousands—including international visitors, influencers, and the media—your brand will enjoy unparalleled visibility, networking opportunities, and a lasting impact.”

Cape Coast, known for its rich historical significance and stunning coastline, will serve as the perfect backdrop for this dynamic celebration. As the excitement builds towards December 2025, organisers are optimistic that AfroTorch will leave an indelible mark on the region’s cultural, arts and tourism scene.

“As we embark on this journey, let us make Cape Coast the must-visit destination this December!” Orleans proclaimed. “We welcome you to be part of history in the making.”

A second launch of AfroTorch 2025 is planned for Cape Town, South Africa in April during this year’s WTM Africa.
