In a move that will undoubtedly shape the future of Ghana’s meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism, the Airport View Hotel has officially launched The AVI Event Center—a state-of-the-art venue strategically located in the tranquil yet accessible Airport Residential Area of Accra.
This landmark event, marked by an exclusive Event Vendors Cocktail Gathering on Tuesday, 8th April, heralds the introduction of a versatile and sophisticated space designed to meet the growing demand for high-end events in Ghana.
With tourism industry leaders and key stakeholders in attendance, the unveiling of The AVI offered a glimpse into what promises to be an impactful player in Ghana’s burgeoning event space sector. The AVI Event Center brings a unique combination of luxury, functionality, and flexibility, setting a new standard for event venues in the region. The center’s grand dome, with an impressive capacity ranging from 1,000 to 1,600 guests, is ideal for a variety of functions, including corporate conferences, large-scale award ceremonies, weddings, and gala dinners.
The venue’s flexible configurations allow for 1,200 seats in theater setup or 500 for intimate dinners and receptions. The accompanying garden area provides a serene outdoor setting perfect for cocktail receptions, exhibitions, and social gatherings, accommodating up to 1,000 guests.
The venue’s expansive 200×600 square-foot dome promises a superior experience for event planners seeking the ideal balance of scale and exclusivity. Complementing this expansive space are comprehensive amenities, including a fully equipped boardroom, a VIP lounge, a spacious kitchen, two changing rooms, a security post, and ample parking, ensuring that every event hosted at The AVI is seamless and memorable.
In his address, Mr. Francis Fori-Dwumah, CEO of Airport View Hotel, emphasized the vision behind the creation of The AVI Event Center. “We are proud to introduce The AVI, a world-class facility that reflects our commitment to positioning Ghana as a key player in Africa’s MICE tourism market.

This center is designed to provide event organizers with a versatile space that meets international standards, all while contributing to the growth of Ghana’s tourism industry.” He extended a warm invitation to event planners and organisers, encouraging them to consider The AVI for their future events.
The unveiling also featured a statement from Mr. Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director of Domestic Marketing at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). In his address, Mr. Kusi highlighted the strategic role of The AVI in supporting the government’s domestic tourism initiatives and advancing Ghana’s reputation as the Gateway to Africa. “The AVI Event Center is more than just a venue; it is a reflection of our national commitment to developing sustainable tourism infrastructure that supports local businesses and attracts international investors,” Mr. Kusi remarked.
The Ghana Tourism Authority’s recent efforts to streamline the event venue sector through regulations and licensing frameworks were also underscored, ensuring that venues like The AVI uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and service. With the imminent introduction of the Multi-Purpose Establishments regulation, Mr. Kusi reaffirmed the importance of ensuring a secure and professional environment for all types of events held across the country.

“The AVI Event Center is a perfect addition to our growing MICE sector,” Mr. Kusi concluded. “It embodies the essence of Ghana’s tourism marketing campaign: See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana. It provides a platform for both local and international events, promoting a sustainable tourism model while empowering local communities.”
The grand unveiling of The AVI also aligns with Ghana’s ongoing efforts to promote its “Black Star Experience”—a flagship program celebrating the nation’s rich culture, history, and creative arts. As part of this initiative, the government aims to position Ghana as a top destination for global tourism, further fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors. The AVI Event Center will play a vital role in showcasing Ghana’s capacity to host world-class events, strengthening its position as a top destination for international conferences, exhibitions, and cultural celebrations.
