Ghana’s Envoy to Spain Presents Credentials to UN Tourism Secretary-General

Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, H.E. Mrs. Regina Appiah-Sam, has officially presented her Letters of Credence to the Secretary-General of UN Tourism, Zurab Pololikashvili, at the organization’s headquarters in Madrid.

Upon receiving her credentials, Secretary-General Pololikashvili congratulated Ambassador Appiah-Sam on her appointment as Ghana’s Permanent Representative to UN Tourism. He noted that their discussions focused on expanding training opportunities, attracting tourism-related investment to Ghana, and strengthening the country’s active engagement with the organization.

“We discussed expanding training opportunities, attracting investment in tourism, and strengthening Ghana’s engagement with UN Tourism,” the Secretary-General shared in a post on X.

Ambassador Appiah-Sam conveyed warm greetings from President John Dramani Mahama and the Government of Ghana, emphasizing the vital role tourism plays in the nation’s economy. She praised the Secretary-General for his impactful leadership, particularly in advancing tourism development across the African region.

The Ambassador reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to promoting cultural diplomacy through tourism, highlighting the country’s unique heritage as a gateway to Africa and the African diaspora.

Ghana is a founding member of UN Tourism and currently serves on the organization’s Executive Council.
