The chairman of the Kenya Tourism Federation, KTF Mohammed Hersi has lauded members of the Federation exhibiting at this year’s world travel market (WTM) in London UK.

Fifteen travel and tourism enterprises will be exhibiting under the umbrella of Kenya Tourism Federation.

This is coming on the back of the withdrawal of Kenya Tourism Board from one of the exhibition

In a statement issued by Mr Hersi ahead of the opening of the trade show tomorrow, the chairman said “I would like to thank you all for showing faith in KTF when we decided to pick up the pieces and save our presence at WTM. We still hopefully that KTB will reassess their exit in the next financial year and make a comeback”

He added that, the federation does not take opportunities such as the participation at WTM for granted as private sector players.

The KTF president was confident of a bigger participation from members next year which will help reduce participation fee paid by the Federation.

”When we grow our numbers it also means the fees will drastically drop and that is the aim of KTF. We want to make participation fees at WTM to be as low as possible and the more the merrier. It is also our goal to go to other fairs where Kenya is not represented. We are also very keen to explore Africa as a source market.” the statement read.

The Kenya Tourism Board earlier this year announced their withdrawal from WTM to use alternative means in reaching out to the UK and other European travel market.
