Breaking: 63rd UNWTO Regional Commission Meeting For Africa (CAF) postponed

Following the declaration of corona virus as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) yesterday, the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in a swift measure has called off its upcoming 63rd Regional Commission Meeting for Africa (CAF) which was to be held in Mahe -Seychelles, 25-27 MARCH 2020.

The UN Tourism body in an official communication to member states said decision was in accordance with the UNWTO Statutes and in consultation with the CAF Chairman.

New dates will be announced later as stated in the official note verbal.

The Secretariat of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), presents its compliments to the Members of the UNWTO Commission for Africa, the Affiliate Members of the region as well as other recipients and would like to update them on the hosting of the Sixty-third UNWTO Commission for Africa and Forum on African Youth for Sustainable Tourism Solutions which was to be held in Victoria, Mahé, Republic of Seychelles from 25th to 27th March 2020.

Following the recent declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) on COVID-19 being a pandemic and in accordance with the UNWTO Statutes and in consultation with the CAF Chairman, the 63r d CAF and Forum on African Youth for Sustainable Tourism Solutions is being postponed to a later date. Members will be informed of new dates in due course.

The Secretariat of the World Tourism Organization avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Members of the UNWTO Commission for Africa, the affiliate members of the region and other recipients, the assurances of its highest consideration.
