The Trevor Noah Tourism Campaign for South Africa has secured third place for the “Best Country Promotion Film” at the 2024 World Tourism Film Awards, held on November 27 in Spain. This prestigious recognition places South Africa among the global elite, as only 29 films were awarded out of over 4,000 entries and 100 shortlisted finalists.

Spearheaded by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) with support from TOMSA, the campaign highlights South Africa’s cultural richness, natural beauty, and unparalleled travel experiences. Featuring Trevor Noah’s personal connection to his heritage, the film has captivated audiences worldwide, solidifying South Africa’s image as a top travel destination.

Reflecting on the award, TBCSA CEO Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa remarked:“This recognition underscores our resilience and
highlights the global appeal of South Africa’s story.”

Launched as a post-COVID-19 recovery initiative, the campaign has achieved exceptional success, generating over 500 million impressions, 260 million engagements, and 230 million views, reaffirming South Africa’s allure on the global stage.

The TBCSA and TOMSA remain committed to showcasing South Africa as a vibrant destination for visitors from across the world.
