The Greater Accra Regional Tourism Awards 2026 has celebrated outstanding businesses, professionals and institutions whose contributions continue to shape the region’s tourism and hospitality industry.
Held on Friday, September 18, at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra, the awards were organised under the theme “Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders – The Black Star Experience.” The event brought together tourism and hospitality industry leaders, government representatives and other stakeholders to recognise excellence across a wide range of categories.

The evening opened with a colourful cultural performance, as a traditional dance troupe welcomed guests and set the tone for a celebration of Ghanaian culture and creativity.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto; Deputy CEO Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey; Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company, Prof. Kobby Mensah; and President of the Ghana Tourism Federation, Seth Yeboah Ocran, alongside other industry stakeholders.
Addressing guests, Greater Accra Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mrs. Roberta Baaba Mprah Arhinful, said the awards provided an opportunity to honour the people and organisations whose commitment continues to advance tourism in Greater Accra and Ghana.

“Tourism is not simply about attracting visitors. It is about creating experiences that are authentic, memorable and powerful enough to transcend borders,” she said.
She described Greater Accra as being at the centre of Ghana’s tourism experience, highlighting the region’s combination of heritage, culture, cuisine, beaches, entertainment, nightlife and creativity.
“Greater Accra has the potential to become one of Africa’s leading tourism and creative capitals,” Mrs. Mprah Arhinful said, adding that Accra’s international recognition for its vibrant nightlife demonstrated the energy and potential of the destination.

She also urged tourism stakeholders to continue raising industry standards through innovation and collaboration while telling Ghana’s tourism story with confidence.
“To all our stakeholders and partners, thank you for your continued support. And to our winners tonight, remember: this award is not the destination; it is the beginning of another journey towards greater excellence,” she said.
The awards recognised operators across accommodation, food and beverage, travel, transport, guiding, media and other areas of the tourism value chain.
